MotoGP at Sepang 2027: the Malaysian Grand Prix, 22 to 24 October
The PETRONAS Grand Prix of Malaysia brings MotoGP back to Sepang International Circuit from 22 to 24 October 2027, the loudest weekend on the Malaysian sporting calendar.
Sepang International Circuit was built for this: a 5.5 kilometre Hermann Tilke track beside Kuala Lumpur International Airport, with the twin grandstands facing each other across the main straight and a roof that has become the circuit's signature. The Malaysian Grand Prix runs from Friday 22 to Sunday 24 October 2027, practice on Friday, qualifying on Saturday and the races on Sunday, with Moto2 and Moto3 on the same bill.
The weekend's shape
Sunday is the day the precinct fills: the grandstands hold the race-day crowd and the grass banks take the rest. Saturday qualifying is the insider's pick, with the full grid on track, smaller crowds and time to walk the circuit. If you are flying in for the race, note that the circuit is minutes from KLIA: plenty of fans land on Friday morning and are at the track before the first session ends.
Getting there
Race weekend runs on shuttles: buses connect KL Sentral and the airport to the circuit on event days, and the KLIA Ekspres plus a shuttle is the combination that avoids the car parks. Driving is possible and the parking is vast, but the exit queues after the MotoGP race are a Malaysian institution of their own.
Heat is the real opponent
Sepang in October is hot and humid with afternoon rain never far away. The main grandstand roof covers the seats opposite the pits; everywhere else, plan for sun at noon and a downpour at three. The event page carries the official source and the confirmed dates, checked before publication.
