Things to do in Kuala Lumpur.
The capital's bookable core: the twin towers and the KL Tower above the city, the caves at Batu Caves, the aquarium under the convention centre, and Sunway's lagoon in the western suburbs.

The Petronas Twin Towers
The twin towers that define the skyline: the Skybridge on the 41st floor and the observation deck on the 86th, 452 metres up, with the KLCC park and the fountain lake at their feet.
How to book: Timed tickets online from the official site or the platforms. The day's Skybridge slots go quickly, so book at least a day ahead, and note the towers close on Mondays.

The 421 metre tower on the Bukit Nanas forest reserve: an observation deck, a revolving restaurant and the glass Sky Box ledge for the photograph, above a patch of protected rainforest in the middle of the city.
How to book: Tickets online or at the tower base. Go on a clear morning for the longest views; the deck stays open late.

The oceanarium under the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre: a 90 metre tunnel under the sharks and rays, feeding shows through the day, and the easiest good hour in KLCC with children.
How to book: Tickets online or at the door; weekends queue, so book the slot ahead.

The limestone hill and temple caves 13 kilometres north of the centre: the 140 foot Murugan statue, 272 painted steps, and the cathedral cave at the top. At Thaipusam it becomes the centre of the country's Hindu festival celebrations.
How to book: Entry to the main cave is free and there is nothing to book. Go early for the steps in the shade, and take the KTM Komuter train to the station at the gate.
Sunway Lagoon
The big theme and water park in Bandar Sunway: six parks in one, surf beach, slides and the scream park, in a former tin mine an easy LRT and BRT ride from the centre.
How to book: Tickets online; the multi-park pass is the standard buy. Weekdays are far quieter than school holiday weekends.
Search tickets and toursvia KlookPlanning the stay itself: the area guides cover what is on, and the hotels page covers where to sleep near it.
